Clinical Research Associate Clinical Trials Training Course [CTTC]
The CTTC, developed specifically for the Group by SWOG’s statistical center at Cancer Research and Biostatistics [CRAB], provides the essential skills needed for clinical research associates and other clinical trials support professionals to assume their role in SWOG’s cooperative clinical trial process. The course is offered twice each year during the Group meetings, and helps train over 250 CRAs and other oncology professionals annually. Major areas addressed include: ethics in clinical research, the cooperative group concept, protocol development, data submission and flow, serious adverse events, expectation and institutional performance review reports, long-term follow-up, and audits/quality assurance. Participants who successfully complete the CTTC will master the fundamental elements of SWOG and National Cancer Institute (NCI) policies and procedures, and receive up-to-date training and continuing education in real-time data collection, tumor bank collection processing, and best practice SWOG models. Upon completion of each course, participants are eligible to receive continuing medical education credits from their respective national professional associations.
In 2010, the CTTC will be offered at the semi-annual SWOG Group Meetings: April 14-15 in San Francisco, and October 20-21 in Chicago. To register, see SWOG for registration information.
The 2010 CTTC is sponsored by Millennium Pharmaceuticals.
