SWOG Latin America Initiative
In 2009, we launched the SWOG Latin America Initiative (SLAI), SWOG’s initial inquiry into establishing a clinical trials network in Latin America. Backed by a number of educational and industry supporters, including SLACOM, Latin America’s principle society of medical oncology, the SLAI will create a strategic plan for the feasible development of SWOG trials throughout the region. Focusing initially on genitourinary, gastrointestinal, gynecologic, breast, and lung cancers, SWOG envisions training networks and educational opportunities as part of the SLAI, which will be available to investigators across Latin America. In 2009 and 2010, investigators from Latin America will enroll in the Young Investigator Training Course and will attend SWOG Group Meetings.
