A lot changes in a generation.

2018 marks 25 years since our founding. In that time, cancer research – and research funding – has moved from the analog world of phones, faxes and snail mail to the digital universe of the web. Simultaneously, cancer care and patient advocacy have undergone incredible transformations. Today, our work is more personalized, advanced, and inclusive than ever. Our patients are at the center of everything we do.

What hasn’t changed since 1993 is our mission. We strive every day to improve cancer treatments, outcomes and prevention efforts for patients and their families. And we’ve realized that 25 is the right time to improve how we serve you – our digital audience – so that we reflect that mission in equal measure online.

Going forward, you’ll see some changes in how we look and talk about our work in the digital space. First and foremost, in our name. To more clearly convey what we do we’ve added Cancer Research – and specifically SWOG– to our brand identity.

SWOG Cancer Research Network conducts publicly funded, diverse, and inclusive cancer clinical trials across the United States and beyond. Publicly funded means you. You are on our team. We couldn’t provide all that we do for SWOG’s world-class cancer researchers without you.

Beyond the surface-layer updates, in the coming months you’ll notice our commitment to improving transparency and inclusiveness in what we share online. Yes, we fund SWOG Cancer Research members, but we do so to benefit patients, clinical trial participants, families, and all those touched by cancer now and in the future.

Through a generation, thoughtful donors have fostered our growth, pushing us toward a tomorrow free from cancer as we know it. We’re excited to see what improvements are yet to come. We can’t wait to share them with you.

Thank you for your time and generous support.

Warmly,

Jo Horn
